I was extremely fortunate to start my career in the cutting rooms of the Shell Film Unit, which at the time was universally recognised as one of the industry’s most influential and respected producers of sponsored documentaries.
On completing my apprenticeship with Shell I worked as a freelance film editor before moving into the fast developing world of video.
Following a decade in the heart of Soho working as a video editor on commercials, TV programmes and corporate videos, I slowly moved into directing and I enjoyed many happy and busy years travelling the world and working on a huge variety of subjects and styles of programme.
During this period I wrote, produced and directed all manner of broadcast and non-broadcast programmes, working as part of a large crew on everything from multi-camera studio shoots and commercials to single-camera dramas and music videos and from interactive business TV and sponsored sports programmes, to current affairs documentaries and children’s TV.
During this time I also covered many leading sporting events including The Olympic Games, Wimbledon, BTCC Motor Racing, world class sailing, Test Cricket, major equestrian events, and Premier League football.
Clients included global broadcasters, international sports federations and a host of blue-chip ‘multi-nationals’ such as BMW, INEOS, IBM, Shell, UPS, BT, Land Rover and BP.
Spin forward to 2019 and with perhaps the exception of commercials and high-profile TV dramas, those days of big budgets and large crews appear to have long gone. So rather than labelling myself as a director, I now see myself as simply a film-maker – conceiving, writing, shooting and editing pretty much all my projects – and I love it!
Dreamchaser Films is the production company through which I manage these projects and I hope that the Dreamchaser name reflects my underlying desire to use my film-making to help celebrate the beauty of our world and to contribute in some small way to helping people understand that it needs our care and attention more than ever before.
Alongside my film-making I am a published song-writer and released my second album in the last quarter of 2018.
I have a passion for the ocean and love my occasional work as a commercial yacht skipper.
This site can’t hope to tell the whole story so please get in touch if you’d like to know more. I have by no means done everything but over time I’ve done quite a lot and I’d love to share that experience with you.
